Wolfgang Kleinwächter is a professor for
international communication policy and regulation at the Department for Media
and Information Sciences of the University of Aarhus in Denmark. He Co-Chaired
the Civil Society Internet Governance Caucus during the Preparatory Process
towards "WSIS I". He is also active in different positions in ICANN´s
At Large community. He is member of the International Council of the
International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). Previous
teaching positions included the University of Leipzig (1984/2001), the
University of Tampere in Finland (1992/1993) and the School of International
Services at the American University in Washington, D.C., (1993/95). From 1995 to
1997 he chaired the Management Board of the Interregional Information Society
Initiative (IRISI) of the European Commission in Brussels. Since 1998 he teaches
in Aarhus. He is a member of a number of Advisory Boards of scientific journals
- like Gazette - and Programme Committees, inter alia of ISOC´s INET
2002 Conference in Washington. He has published extensively on international
communication policy and regulation as well as on Internet Governance. His book
"ICANN 2.0: The Long Road Towards Self-Regulation of the Internet"
will be published in Fall 2004 in the "Beck Verlag" in Germany.
