Zangl, Peter

Peter Zangl, an economist, was educated at the universities of Rouen (France) and Cologne (Germany). He has been working for the European Commission for more than 25 years, moving from the position of economic analyst at DG Economic and Financial Affairs to Head of Unit and then Director at DG Budget, responsible for negotiation and mid-term assessment. From 1994 to 1996 he was director of the European Social Fund. He was then appointed Director for South-Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern affairs. He is currently working as deputy Director General at DG Information Society.
